The University of Rome "Foro Italico" (IUSM), the only Italian and one of the three European Universities entirely devoted to Sport Science, is highly committed to European cooperation and strongly rooted in the world of sport science, with a significant presence in international organizations such as the IOC, FIMS, ECSS, EFSMA, ENSSEE, AEHESIS, etc. The relatively small dimension and the vocational academic and scientific mission of the institution allow easy collaboration between research groups and the administration. Thus, IUSM proved to be particularly successful in promoting and coordinating international collaborative programs. IUSM is currently coordinating various International Masters and Doctorates, and coordinated three successful Tempus Projects in the sport science area so far. IUSM has also developed a modern Language and Audio-Visual technology center (CELBA) offering basic and advanced language courses and implementing e-Learning technology. |

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), officially founded in April 14th, 1837, is the first University not only of Greece but both the Balkan peninsula and the Eastern Mediterranean region. NKUA is the largest state institution of higher learning in Greece, and among the largest universities in Europe. With a student body of about 80,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, over 2.000 members of academic staff and approximately 1.300 administrative and secretarial staff and specialised personnel, the University of Athens aims at excellence in both teaching and research in a significantly varied range of disciplines. The European Network of Sport Science, Education & Employment (ENSSEE) is an international non-profit association established in Luxembourg in 1989 under its former name ENSSHE (European Network of Sport Science in Higher Education). The ENSSEE network associates institutions only and provides the ideal meeting place for debating and proposing ideas as well as common initiatives to promote education, training and employment in sport. Multiple opportunities for exchanging proposals and strategic views, either via the virtual environment (web communication) or other media, events, projects, and meetings are provided. The objectives of the network are, firstly, to encourage greater European co-operation in relation to research, education, and employment in sport and, secondly, to work towards the convergence of education and training systems for sport related professions in Europe. In general, the network is working towards developing better quality sporting opportunities for all. |

The University of Belgrade, founded in 1905, is the oldest and largest centre for higher education and research in the region. Today it has 30 Faculties with 80000 students. Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, UB is a scientifically-educational institution, which is continuously, since 1946, educating high- level educated stuff for the Physical Education teaching in schools, as well as for sports and recreation. The School of Medicine UB, founded in 1920, is the largest sicientifically-educational institution for training of physicians from Serbia as well as from neighboring countries. Today about 4000 medical students at SMBU are trained in real-life settings - through network of Hospitals and Clinics. Also, member of the UB is Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Psychology founded in 1838, with long lasting education and scientific experience, especially in the field of public health. Their work in the field of sports psychology is well known and internationally recognized. |

The University of Niš was founded in 1965 as a state HE institution. At present, the University comprises 13 faculties, including the Faculty of Sport and Physical education and the Faculty of Medicine. The University of Niš presently has 25313 undergraduate and nearly 700 postgraduate students, 1515 teaching staff and more than 600 administrative and support staff. Since 2001, the University of Niš has been participating in the international program Tempus with numerous projects, either as a local coordinator or a partner. One of the leading principles of the University of Niš is to become a part of the European higher education area and to adjust its plans and programs against this aim, in the context of the reform of higher education system, institutional reorganization and harmonization of study programs with the European academic standards, within the Tempus and other programs. |

The Association Sport for All existed under this name until 1992 when all republic associations of former Yugoslavia participated equally in its work. In May 2006, programmatic issues were inherited by Association Sport for All Serbia.Thanks to the programmatic definitions, it motivated interests of many non governmental organizations that, more or less, deal with programmes of sport recreation for citizens. Nowadays, ASFAS is consisted of 35 members, from both national level and local communities, that make a very significant organizational structure. In agreement with the Association For International Sport for All – TAFISA goals, ASFAS supports promotion/development of traditional sports and games, sees Sport for All as a major contributor to individual, social, community and national life quality, supports international exchange & education of leaders, cooperates with health, culture, education and recreation, supports diversity, inclusiveness and member development. |

As the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in Serbia, Serbian Institute of Sport was founded in 1956. Since that time, their employees have applied research, knowledge, training and dedication in sports medicine and exercise science to promote positive effects of physical activity for healthier lifestyle. Medical specialties from different fields of medicine, allied health professions and experts from variety of scientific disciplines are providing expertise in science of exercise. Also, SIS promotes and integrates practical applications of programmed, individually designed and monitored physical activity for variety age groups (children, adults, elderly, especially women) or fitness levels (recreation, elite athletes) as well as for patients (diabetes, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, etc.). The part of SIS is training center with outdoors (swimming pools, sports fields and stadiums) and indoors facilities (swimming pools, six fully equipped sport halls). |

Sports University of Tirana (former Higher Institute of Physical Culture and later the Academy of Physical Education and Sports "Vojo Kushi") was founded as an autonomous higher education institution in 1958, and is the only Albanian university in the area. Sports University of Tirana is governed by a Rector and a Senate and is organized in : Faculty of Movement Sciences, Faculty of Physical Activity and Recreation and Institute of Sport Research, with 20 lecture rooms, 9 sport fields and gyms, Library, Computer lab and foreign language lab. It has about 1000 students and a academic staff of 71, most of which speak English and Italian. The mission of UST is : a) the preparation of university students and specialists at all study cycles; b) the qualification of the academic and research staff in the field of education and sports, physical activity, health and recreation; c) the provision of services to third parties and consultancy in the field of physical education and sports. |

NOCs are committed to the development of athletes and support the development of sport for all programmes and high performance sport in their countries. They also participate in the training of sports administrators by organising educational programmes. According to the Olympic Charter, some of NOCAL goals relevant to this project are: a) to encourage and support the promotion of ethics in sport as well as education of youth through sport; b) to encourage and support the organisation, development and coordination of sport and sports competitions; c) to encourage and support initiatives blending sport with culture and education. |

The University of Prishtina is the most important educational, scientific and cultural institution in Kosovo, with 14 faculties and 3 higher Schools. The Faculty of Sport Science is the only public university in Kosovo offering Bachelor and Master studies in the area of sport science to approximately 600 students. From 2009-2012 the Faculty of Sport Science of Prishtina University participated in the Tempus project "Balkansport" harmonizing the curricula (Bachelor and Master) in the field of Sport Science in the Balkan region. Currently a post-graduate level training of trainers programme in physical education and sport funded by the EU (EuropeAid/130886/C/SER/KOS) has been developed and implemented at the Faculty of Sport Science aiming to improve the provision of physical education and sports training in Kosovo. Additionally the Faculty of Sport Science works in close cooperation with all sport federations in Kosovo. |
